‘‘A Change for Good’ isn’t just a slogan — it’s still my commitment.
The election may be over, but the work continues.
As someone who’s lived and worked in this region all my life, I remain committed to listening, understanding, and standing up for what matters most to our communities.
I believe in good governance, practical solutions, and putting people first — not just during a campaign, but every day. I’ll keep advocating for the Riverina with honesty, heart, and a focus on the future we all want to build.
Whether you voted for me or not, your voice matters. And I’m still here to hear it.
Let’s keep working together for a better tomorrow — one that truly reflects the strength, resilience, and values of our region.
James Gooden is a proud product of the Riverina, having grown up in a grazing and farming family along the Yanko Creek in the western Riverina. Now a grazier in the eastern Riverina, James’s connection to the land and its people runs deep. His journey in agriculture began early — shaped by family circumstances — when he stepped up to take on major responsibilities following a tragic accident involving his father. That experience forged the resilience and work ethic that define him today.
James is supported in every part of life by his wife, Helen, a proud local of Junee. Helen is not only his partner in life but also his partner in their farming and grazing business. Together, they are raising their three children — Kate, John, and Alex — with the same values of hard work, community connection, and care for the land.
A passionate advocate for the Riverina, James has held leadership roles focused on protecting what matters most to regional communities. As a founding member and former Chair of the Riverina Sustainable Food Alliance (RSFA), he has championed the protection of productive agricultural land, sustainable farming, and environmental heritage. Under his leadership, RSFA became a respected voice in addressing land use conflicts and pushing for fair, balanced solutions that prioritise community over profit.
James is also an active member of NSW Farmers and a long-time volunteer with the local Rural Fire Brigade — further reflecting his deep commitment to service.
Known for his straightforward approach and outcomes-focused mindset, James continues to speak up and stand up for the Riverina — not just during an election, but every day. His dedication to rural voices, local livelihoods, and a sustainable, affordable future remains as strong as ever.
"The Riverina deserves to be heard — not just during campaigns, but all year round. I’ll keep listening, learning, and working with our communities for a future that reflects who we are and what we value."
